Walkers was set up in 1990 by Anne Neill (with bags of misplaced theories and loads of heartfelt enthusiasm!). European travels, particularly Germany, proved that there were some amazingly creative designers, dressing women in an extraordinary stylish way.... and this somewhat artistic styling seemed not to be present in the UK at the time.
Using asymmetric lines, crumpled fabrics and somewhat bizarre styling ideas, mixed up with luxury yarns, subtle colours and a leap of faith....we went where no other shop (that we knew of) dared to go!
Raised eyebrows from the established retailers and fashion writers proved we had touched a nerve, and buying from instinct rather than format, meant we could experiment to our hearts content! It seemed that the crazier styles flew out the door, and our 'safer' choices hardly moved. So our ethos was formed.
Based in the city of Norwich until October 2017 we have been enjoying the areas historic cobbled streets, but as in life, things change and the decision was taken to move Walkers.Style to Pakefield, on the beautiful Suffolk Coast.
We set up our internet website in 2004, intrepidly putting our toes into unknown waters. We were not certain that there would be a customer wanting to buy, without her stepping into the shop to go through the 'trying on' stage and browsing through lots of rails. But to our delight, there are ladies worldwide who know what they want, and who get straight onto the website and order away quite happily. We look after these long distance customers by providing as much information about our clothes as possible to help with buying decisions and use a really speedy delivery services. It all works well...we have found new customers, and the customers have got some great new clothes!
Walkers continues growing and our existing favourite collections are deeper and more extensive than ever before. We are proud to have possibly the largest stock of the Rundholz Collection worldwide.
